Gary Young is a union official from Newton, Iowa whose father worked in the Maytag Plant after World War II. Mr. Young collected photocopies of news articles about the 1938 stike by United Electrical Workers Local 1116 against the Maytag Washing Machine Company. The Maytag Company was organized in 1893 and was incorporated in 1909. Its home office and factory were located at Newton, Iowa. In 1919, George H.
